Patti Labelle And The Pointer Sisters At San Manuel Casino
Two Legendary Acts Perform Classic Pop Hits for the Inland Empire in May
San Manuel Indian Nation, CA– Thursday, May 10, 2012, San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino welcomes soulful songbird, Patti LaBelle and The Pointer Sisters to the San Manuel stage. Tickets are on sale today and available at Ticketmaster.com and the San Manuel Box Office for $50, $60 and $70.
Patti LaBelle: Known for belting out classic rhythm and blues renditions, pop standards and spiritual sonnets, Patti LaBelle brings her grace, style and elegance to the Inland Empire. The same motivation that had Patricia Louise Holte blossom from a choir member to lead vocalist for Patti LaBelle & The Bluebelles, and later, Labelle, and then to a solo artist, is the same energy that keeps her fire burning. With Billboard hits and Grammy® Awards, she still has time for other ventures.
LaBelle has her own wig line, The Patti LaBelle Collection, and in 2008, released her fifth book and third cookbook, “Recipes for The Good Life”, and an instructional cooking DVD, “In The Kitchen with Miss Patti”. The cookbook features recipes and anecdotes that reflect her philosophy that good cooking and the love of entertaining come from the heart. More recently, Patti introduced a line of signature sauces and marinates called Lady Marmalade and launched a designer bedding collection, Patti LaBelle Home. This follows suit with her work as a humanitarian and advocate for adoption, foster care, Big Sisters and the United Negro College Fund, among others.
The Pointer Sisters: The Pointer Sisters began their formal vocal training in their father’s church in California. They went on to achieve worldwide fame and have secured a place in pop music history as a dynamic female group. Their first performance in Los Angeles at the Troubadour club was hailed by critics for its versatility and range. Their 1973 debut album produced “Yes We Can, Can,” which reached #11 on Billboard pop singles chart. In 1975, “Fairytale” off the “That’s A Plenty” album, earned them a Grammy Award, for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Elvis Presley.
Among their many successful hits, “I’m So Excited” became an instant hit as a Top 10, and remains a classic to this day. In 1994, the ladies received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, an event proclaimed “Pointer Sisters Day” in Hollywood. Two years later they performed at the closing ceremonies of the Olympics in Atlanta, and released “Fire—The Very Best of the Pointer Sisters”, a 36-song anthology that chronicled the sisters’ career.
