“Meet the Funders” Forum Success

San Bernardino, CA – 5th District Supervisor Josie Gonzales recently hosted a funders forum to help local non-profit organizations secure dollars from major foundations.

The “Meet the Funders” Forum featured a panel of grant-making foundations. Representatives from major funding institutions met face to face with local non-profits primarily serving the County’s Fifth District residents. The funders include:  Archstone Foundation, California Wellness Foundation, Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit Programs, Union Pacific Foundation, and the Weingart Foundation.

Daniel Foster, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Community Foundation serving Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, moderated a panel discussion to educate local organizations on how to effectively approach these foundations for grants focused in the areas of health and human services, education, community and civic engagement, youth, and the arts.

Through the workshop, Supervisor Gonzales enabled the continued empowerment of non-profits toward economic independence and long-term sustainability.

“San Bernardino County non-profits need to get their fair share of the financial pie,” said Fifth District Supervisor Gonzales.  “I sponsor these workshops to help our local charities establish a direct link to important funding sources, thereby increasing their opportunities of attaining the financing they need to continue to provide much needed services for our residents,” said Gonzales.

The 5th District includes the unincorporated areas of Bloomington, Muscoy and Arrowhead Farms, the City of Rialto, major portions of the cities of Colton and San Bernardino, and a segment of the City of Fontana.
