Last Saturday, at an extravagant gala affair hosted by Inland Valley News at the historic Grove Theater in Upland, City Manager Lee McDougal was recognized with the Publisher’s Choice Award for Corporate Leadership. There were approximately 400 guests including Mayor Paul Eaton; Council Members Leonard Paulitz, Carolyn Raft, and Bill Ruh; and a number of City staff.

Awards are presented annually in various categories including the Publisher’s Choice Award, Lifetime Achievement, Humanitarianism, Student Advocacy and Support, Educational Administration, Corporate Leadership, and Corporate Community Service. The Inland Valley News presents its Corporate Leadership Award to a member of the business or public service sector who represents the ideals of community involvement and exceptional leadership practices in the corporate community. Lee was profiled in a video presentation of his career as Montclair City Manager.

THE NEED: The Celebration of Excellence Awards Gala is a community outreach program of the Inland Valley News, sponsored together with its affiliated not-for-profit, public benefit 501(c)(3) corporation, Shining Glory Publications. Proceeds from this benefit provide scholarships and internships for youths and adults from under-represented communities wishing to pursue education and/or careers in journalism writing or publication design. The Inland Valley News is the only African American owned newspaper in the Pomona and East San Gabriel Valleys, serving 70,000 readers each week.
