Thank God for another Thanksgiving for another holiday.

Boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather on Wednesday scrapped a planned fight with a Japanese kickboxer, Tenshin Nasukawa, claiming he had been duped into agreeing to the contest in Japan on New Year’s Eve.

In a lengthy statement posted on social media, Mayweather said he had been "blindsided" by organizers of the proposed bout against Tenshin Nasukawa, set for New Year's Eve in Saitama.

In Tokyo on Monday, Mayweather had vowed to give "blood, sweat and tears" in the fight against Nasukawa.

"It's always been a goal of mine to go outside out of the US and display my talent. The world has never seen Mayweather compete live in (Japan)," Mayweather told reporters at the press conference, framing the fight as an expansion of his businesses to the Far East.

Barack Obama made a surprise appearance at Michelle Obama's book tour in Washington, comparing himself to Jay-Z at a Beyoncé concert.  The former president showed up with a bouquet of flowers during the promotional event for his wife's memoir, "Becoming," in the nation's capital on Saturday night.

"This is like - you know when Jay-Z comes out during the Beyoncé concert? ... Like, Crazy in Love?" he said, referring to instances when the rapper appears at his wife's concerts during performances of her famous song. "It's the same thing. It's just a little sample to enhance the concert."
